A quick update on two things we're excited about: better audio on the way for flashcards, and a new role we're hiring for.

If you've been using the flashcards, you know audio is a big part of how they work — hearing a word alongside seeing it is a lot of what makes it stick. Right now, we're in the middle of upgrading that audio across the board. We started by using Arabic Text-to-Speech to give users the ability to hear the word right away. However, we found the quality of the TTS audio to be lacking. So we're now adding audio for each flashcard in our database.

This is very much in progress, not finished. We'll be rolling it out card by card rather than all at once, so don't be surprised if you notice some words sounding better than others over the next while. We'd rather ship improvements as they're ready than sit on all of them until everything's perfect.

As we've talked about before, one of our big goals is building a library of Comprehensible Input videos across the dialects of the Arab world. To make that real, we're hiring an Arabic Video Creator.

We're looking for a native Arabic speaker who's comfortable in front of a camera, is excited dialect to represent their dialect, and wants to help learners actually understand spoken Arabic. You don't need production experience or a fancy setup. What matters most is being a natural, engaging speaker who can talk at a pace and level that learners can follow, and genuinely enjoying the idea of helping people learn.
